Jesse Lee Varnado, a Montana native, lives his passion for all things wild while walking, tracking, and climbing through rich mountains, valleys, and planes with his camera. He practices quiet observation, patience, and persistence in an effort to accurately portray the natural behavior of the wilderness and its inhabitants. Through his work he hopes to promote conservation and appreciation of our incredible planet and its inhabitants.
As an ethical photographer, all of Jesse’s shots are natural, nothing is staged. He does not agree with harassing wildlife to get a good shot: he never uses dogs for chasing or trapping wildlife nor does he use bait (“there is plenty of naturally occurring bait out there, such as a cougar kill or a lush drainage”). His lived ethic toward our world grows out of his deep respect for natural behavior and habitat, and love of all that is wild. All of his photos are of wild animals in their natural habitat: no pets, zoo, game farm, menagerie or captives. Jesse relies on his photography skills and artistic eye to capture nature as he sees it without altering the image later.
